Superman Boots The True Story

Did you know that superman used to have a strange blue boots when he was first created?

I didn’t. I just saw this post on the Comic Coverage and thought that it was worth mentioning it here.

If I had to guess I would say that the inspiration for the laced boots was in those days fashion but the full explanation is:

Lasting only a few issues, the original boots resembled those used by performing strongmen (who were still quite popular during the 1930’s). I use the term “boots” lightly, since they appear to be more like sandals or slippers with crisscrossed lacing to secure them to Superman’s lower leg.
