a querie ?

i was just reading through my 'the death of superman/ a world without superman/ the return of superman' series (in GN format) and i was just wondering, is this the first time that doomsday 'surfaces' as it were ? as it doesn't explain how doomsday got on eath to start with ? i know there is another book with doomsday in it calles something like 'hunter/prey' i have that but that doesn't help much either ? am i missing something or have we never been told how doomsday got on earth to start with ?

Another that would help would be the 1994 Year One Doomsday Annual. It tells of his first encounter with Darkseid, the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians, and Calaton, the last planet he was on before Earth.
