Hey-
Been a while since I've posted here. I've seen some talk about DC debating to break up the 'triangle' story method in the Supes' books and break them down into 4 separate storylines with only occassional cross-overs.
I personally like the weekly continuity it's held my interest for the past 12 years or so. It seems to me that Superman's mythos, history, and character (as well as the supporting cast) has developed much more this way than from the period of 1939 to 1986 of separate books, with everyone changing the story as they see fit (ie...one story would have Supes moving planets, the next would have him black and blue from a tussle with Darkseid or Wonder Woman)
They've been trying to do separate stories in couple of books for the past couple of months...I don't know...maybe I just don't like it cause at the same time they're trying separate stories, they're trying to carry the 'President Lex' story through all of them. Kinda confusing at first.
I think it should be one or the other....separate or the 'triangle' part continuity...(with my vote keeping the weekly continuity, of course...lol) or else they'll just wind up as a confused jumbled mess like the Batman books or the X-men books.
What's anybody else think or does anybody have any juicy bits of new 'news' as to what's DC going to do?

[snip]
I hate the separate stories in separate books idea. The last couple of months in Superman have been very frustrating, with each story basically unconnected to any other. I'll be greatly upset if DC continues to separate the stories, as they have been doing lately.
If DC does go with the separatist view, then I guess they'll have to stop putting the triangles on the front cover! For the last couple of months, those triangles have meant virtually nothing, other than publication order. It certainly hasn't meant anything in terms of story order... With four separate books to read, I find I have the separate story lines all muddled up in my head.
I feel this way also leads to limited story lines - for instance, they can't make a major difference to an important character in one book, without having to reflect that change in the other book. But how do you do that when the first story is meant to come before the second story? Just not show the character? [Am I making sense here? Probably not... :-)]
I'm curious to see how everyone else feels on this issue. If most people don't like the separate stories method, do you think DC will listen? I doubt it will make much difference to them, really, but you never know... I assume they want to separate the books for reasons of profit. It's rather unfortunate that doing so could well alienate a large portion of their audience.
Just my two cents worth.
