Hola kryptonkid, it's that kryptonite newsreader or service thats your problem. there are two OTR newsgroups. one where sound is singular and another where it is plural. (go figure) there are still episodes available although some may have been deleted by this time. they are posted in multipart format and you need all parts merged to work. 1/9-9/9 etc each serial episode is about 15 minutes long. try using forte agent from tucows.com or a similar newsreader and an mp3 player

however you can also go to ftp://ftp.uofs.edu/pub/OTR/ for many of the episodes among others. enjoy and stay tooned

I went there and all I saw were alot of large messages with 'Jack Benny' in the subject. When one of the messages finally loaded, it was a bunch of nonsense and scrambled letters. Do you need a certain program or file to download them?

Jack Benny was one hell of a funny radio show. The clasic bit= Robber 'Your money or your life.' complete silence for 5 minutes then the robber speaks 'Well!' Jack= { I'M thinking about it. }

Actually, it was an exasperated 'I'm thinking it over!', which (if you think about it) sounds a lot more like Benny.

But the silence before it was even funnier. Benny's characterization as a miser was flawless, and still resonates today. I'm sorry the filmed TV shows aren't in syndication anymore. (Almost all of the earlier live shows are lost.)

don't be to sure. stay tooned to TV Land. they're bound to show him there eventually. also the OTR NG posted a video clip of a Jack entertaining the troops episode recently. try asking for a repost Benny is the master of the Long Pause. and don't forget Mel Blancs 'Si' routine that they did frequently. a classic along with 'Who's On First'
