Regarding the Simplify Superman thread (elsewhere), I agree 100 percent (okay, make that 99.9%), but it's obvious that not everyone would prefer a weakened Supes. I suggest complicating the character further by having a new title:
_The Adventures of Superman 1950_
I wouldn't go so far as to make him have to stop flying after three miles or even a hundred miles though. (See, even the down-sized Supes fans can't agree.) But I would concentrate on Mickey Spillane, Elmore Leonard-type stories. Gritty detective stuff and less Alien Of The Month crrraaaaaaaap. <g>
Just my biased $0.02.

Make it 1943, same concept.
Worthy of a good deal more than two mere cents. Your header is also more appropriate for the 'Simplify Superman' thread, as well, since what's really being protested there is the childish simplicity of the way the character is so often handled.

Either that, Or just create a taylor-made meta-human by any other name. A rose by any other name...

You're right, of course, and I do believe John Jones has been used often in such gritty detective stories, but I love Supes and would enjoy stories of this type with Clark as the protagonist. Have you read Man of Steel this month?
Superman in a coffee shop! I win. <g>
