Green Lantern Movie

About 2 years ago I remember reading about an unkown actor that was in the middle of filming a feature length movie featuring/called Green Lantern. I never heard or read another word about it.

Anyone know what ever happened to that project ?

Project was shelved by Warner Bros. (Thank God). Different drafts of the script had a pizza delivery boy and/or a court stenographer both finding the ring. The overall tone of the scripts was manic comedy, with the ring creating all kinds of Tex Avery chaos in the life of the guy who finds it (ala The Mask). There was only one draft that briefly alluded to Hal Jordan, but mostly it was played for comedy. They are all awful and I'm glad the project was scrapped in the state it was in. Perhaps one day we'll get the real deal (Hal, not Kyle!)

IIRC, Kevin Smith turned a draft/proposal for a Green Lantern movie over to Warner Bros. within the last year. Apparently his idea is for a serious movie that has Hal Jordan as the hero depicted in the flick. Haven't heard anything other then, so for all I know it could have never gone any further then this.

I've noticed this alot. What do these intials mean?

It stands for 'If I Recall Correctly'

Has anyone seen the JLA live-action pilot? It had a Green Lantern named Guy Gardner who was Kyle in all but name. The only notable was David Ogden Stiers as J'Onn J'Onnz. Inspired my J*L*A*. But not a good tape. Thank heaven the big guy was left out.

The GL movie idea hatched about six years ago, and, at the time, Jonathan Frakes from ST:TNG was the front-runner for Hal Jordan... would've liked to have seen that...

Maybe those guys were just blowing air where it doesn't belong, but I remember people talking about a GL movie for WAY more than 10 years. Like between 83 and 86. But that's how the movies work. You take an idea and then boil the flavor out of it. I guess GL just takes a long time to boil.

Hey, what about Alan Scott? He looked pretty good in KC, I just wish I'd seen him in regular continuity.

Given the continued ostrich-attitude of the Green Lantern editor and DCU editors in general, don't hold your breath. Also, the Kyle Rayner character for reasons that baffle me, continues to hold the interest of a bunch of people that (IMHO) wouldn't know a good story or character if they read it...

And I agree with older fans... The first two Green Lanterns were the best versions of that character. The current GL, IF you want to call him that (even though he's NOT worthy of the name), is a pathetic invention of the DC editorial bullpen
