I have recently read my copy of 'Superman: Peace On Earth', and there are many things on it that makes me ask if this is a pre-crisis Superman. Any comments?

I don't believe it would be. I don't think DC would even consider doing a pre-crisis Superman story... I must confess that I personally would like one, if only to bring back one of my all time favorite characters : Supergirl, whose death I will never forget. I was only 15 at the time, and had one hell of a crush on her...

nevertheless, Superman eace on Earth is a very moving story; just the art work by Alex Ross makes it worth it...

It's definetely not the pre-Crisis Superman. DC would never go that route after all this time. King Krypton - see my Superman script treatment at

Except that it might have. It's not specifically stated in PoE that Pa Kent is dead, but the feel of the piece is that he is. Further, the feats performed by Superman in this story seem too strenuous for the more modern version.

As for DC never going this route, the recent JLA Elseworlds arc 'The Nail' is for all intents and purposes a Silver Age story.

One hint about the story pre or post crisis is when Superman is carring the ship. In post crisis he is strong enough to carry the ship. But todays Superman would know if he ever tried to lift a ship like that with our support the weight of the ship would break it;s own back. Or if he tried suprting all that weight with his hands the steel plates could not suport the the ship and superman would tear a hole in the bottom and up thru the decks just because of the weight of the ship.

There was a recent issue of Legends of the DC Universe with a 'lost' incident of the Crisis on Infinite Earths that involves the pre-crisis Superman, Supergirl as well as alternate versions of the two. Don't have it with me but if anyone's interested I can find the issue #.

Not true. SuperBOY has lifted Lex Luthor's massive ship and carried it back to Metropolis before during the deterioration of Lex's 2nd body. He'd have punched through the ship just like you mentioned in this story if that were the case. Not to mention that both seem to be able to extend the telekinetic shield far enough around objects (subconsciously, I suppose) to lift objects that should fall apart otherwise.

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen: Lord David, you could be right... exept that post-crisis Superman has never had that problem (and it has been repeated many times, speecially on the good old Byrne's days) of structural weights, mostly because of his telekinetically based strength and flight. I think the point was that it could be either way. It was a straightforward Superman story, and that's the important part.
