Sci-Fi Wire has a short piece with some details about 'Smallville,' which is apparently what the Young Clark Kent series is going to be called.

The bit about Luthor is interesting.

Hmmm...suppose that part will depend on how they present it. Doesn't sound terribly interesting at face value.
Glad to see they're going with Lana, not Lois as first indicated. Doesn't mean we can't see a young Lois at all during the series' run, which could be interesting. Too bad we won't get to see Prof. Lang, though. In a 'weird' Smallville, he could've been an integral part of the show. Though on the other hand, if he were, he could've upstaged the Kents. Much as Lana upstaged Superboy on the old Salkind series.
I'm actually looking forward to this.

Well, then I take my previous statement about the stupidity of using Lois as a Smallville resident back. AT least they fixed that much.
Still, the whole TWIN PEAKS angle turns me off. That, and the fact that I see no purpose in devoting a TV series to Superman's teen years. Metropolis is where Superman's story really begins; Smallville is just backstory. So I'm still glad I don't get the WB anymore. King Krypton - see my Superman script treatment at

The show seems to be mixing post-Crisis aspects (where Smallville's merely backstory at best) with pre-Crisis ones (where Smallville played a bigger role in Supes' life, along with the concept of Superboy being based there). Hence, the basis for this series, I suppose (that, and various old Superboy stories would suggest it's possible to tell tales of one's formative years and make it interesting...).

I was flying over the city, bringing evil-doers to justice, when Allan
That, and the fact that I see You forget, this is the WB we're talking about, who targets 90% of their programming towards the 12-18 year olds. A teen Clark will fit right in with teen witches, vampires, and slayers.

I love the concept of doing it like Buffy.
Lana and Pete Ross, I suppose as the in-group. Clark is just discovering what his life will actually be like - different to anything anyone else has ever had.
It also has a poignancy of a 'doomed' relationship with Lana - we all know that it will fail. We also know Clark's future (and possibly the truth of his past).
We also know that in the future he will find friends that can understand the life he will lead (JLA).
A young Clark just has to be a weirdness magnet.
