Something Ive always wondered...

...hope this is not too off-topic.

I don't read many comic books any more, but while I did, I always wondered: where did Mon-El come from? Who the heck was he anyway? I never could find his origin anywhere.

Answers or pointers to web sites appreciated...

Mon-El was a Daxamite astronaut from the planet Daxam. Daxam like Krypton circles a red sun and when exposed to a yellow sun they are about on the same power level as a kryptonian but they have a fatal weakness to lead like a kryptonian would to krytonite. IIRC Superboy found mon-el and his spacecraft after it landed on earth and mon-el was suffering from lead poisoning from the levels of lead in our atmosphere. he projected him into the phantom zone to save him and then traveled to the Legion of Super-Heroes time and projected him back out as they had a cure for Daxamite lead weakness. Mon-el stayed on with the Legion. Mon-el wasn't his real name but Superboy made him his honorary brother and gave him the name mon-el.

in Post crisis I think they made mon-el into the character of Valor.
