Is this the same show from the late '80's? Were there that many episodes?

From what I remember and what I've read:

Lex Luthor, went to college with Clark and Lana, in later episodes had plastic surgery to make himself look 15 years older.

Metallo

Mxyzptlk

Bizarro, apeared in several episodes, there was also a Bizarro Lana.

There were other 'villain of the week' characters that weren't very memorable. There is a campaign right now to get the show back on, maybe on the Sci-Fi Channel.

I remember this show and used to watch it regularly every Saturday. I do remember that during the run of the show, two actors played Superboy, but I guess I must be getting old(35) because I don't remember that show running long enough to have 100 episodes. But it was a syndicated series, maybe I didn't see them all. Isn't 100 episodes nearly 5 years worth of shows?

It was 4 seasons. Superboy was played by John Haymes Newton in season 1, and Gerard Christopher in seasons 2-4.

I vote 'cool guy' too. He went to Cardinal Hayes High School, and if you're from New York, that probably means something.

Christopher must be about 38 now. They told him during the production of SUPERBOY that he was '50-50' to play Superman in the 'next movie' the Salkinds were planning at the time. Me, I thought he did fine as Superboy
