Just in case anyone missed it, there's a Batman guest shot in this month's Superman comic. Seems that the writer, Geoff Johns, has had enough of the Batman smart-Superman dumb argument.

I really was expecting this to be a dull storyline but between the Power Girl guest shot and the Batman scene this is the best Superman story in a while.

I'm not giving away any big revelation that will shatter the DC universe, but it does reveal pretty much the whole plot explored in Superman #189.

«««««««««««««««« Spoiler Space »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . «««««««««««««««« End Spoiler Space »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Lana Lang goes missing in a really rough part of Washington DC, ah... 'Hell's Heart'. Clark is asked to find her by Pete Ross and for some reason he wants Clark to do in as himself, not as Superman.

As Clark is packing to leave for 'Hell's Heart' Mr Wayne shows up as Batman. Bruce tells Clark that there is no way that he can go undercover in 'Hell's Heart' because Clark will never pass as one of the residents, mostly because Clark 'can't lie'. Bruce tells Clark that if he goes in with his usual boy scout routine he will only stir up trouble and maybe get Lana killed. Bruce offers to investigate the matter for Clark and as he hand Clark his costume, asks Clark to go off and 'inspire people'.

At this point Clark loses his temper a bit. He tells Bruce that you don't need a cape to inspire people and suggest that Bruce would better honour his parents memory by being... '...the most well-respected and loved philanthropist in the world. Instead you make him a laughing stock, a playboy idi

Considering the fact that the batfamily actually mentions Batman turning more and more away from them, I believe (or, at least hope) that somewhere in the next two years something will happen to humble him greatly, since the people he knows (and as such, the writers) are aware of, and most likely has planned, his gruffiness.

Except for the recent BW:M/F storyline which ended with him calling on the family to help him and admitting he needed them, and even apologising to Nightwing for being such a pain in the ass.

We saw that 'dealt with', then forgotten, at the end of 'Knightsend', then again in NML, and now BW:M/F too. Talk about bipolar disorder!

Of course, we don't know how much of this Bruce heard since he pulled his leaving without a word trick during this last speech of Clark's.

Im sure he is. Supes IS easily as smart as Bats, but I think Batman is used to using his brain, while Superman is used to having his powers to fall back upon.

It's not a matter of brains, it's a matter of training. Bruce Wayne spent years learning from the best how to be a detective, honing his skills, learning forensics, interrogation techniques, disguise, etc. You can't substitute that stuff. It's not about intelligence at all (although you can't do it well if you are not at least above average, of course); it's about training and experience.

John.

Spoilers for Superman #189... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

It's not about intelligence at all (although you : can't do it well if you are not at least above average, : of course); it's about training and experience.

I guess those 1000 years Kal spent fighting alongside Diana in the past count for nothing?

And if one would say, 'Well, that's just fighting, not brains,' how did Clark make it to be one of the world's top reporter-columnists?

...Loren
