Thanks to everyone who responded to my query on whether the Superman For All Seasons mini-series was well received. I bought the whole thing a while ago. It was easily one of the best Superman stories I have ever read in a long time. Has it's value ever gone up in Wizard? Do you think its value will shoot up?

On the side, I think it is the Loeb-Sale team that clicks and Loeb's writing won't prosper in the regular Superman series because of his creative limitations and the fact that he now has to work under the editorial team. Moreover, Sale impressionist and seemingly theatrical and distinctive art won't be around anymore.

me,

J

From the Dark, Damp and Noisy World of Tony Caroselli:

No, it hasn't gone up yet, but then, that's typical for prestige format books. Still, majorly significant PF books (e.g.: KINGDOM COME, THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS) DO tend to go up after a while, ESPECIALLY if those books were overlooked when they first came out but get more attention through word of mouth (as is likely to happen to SFAS). So you never know.

Why? You wanna sell yours, or are you just hoping to be able to gloat someday that you got 'em at cover price?

Ah, I dunno about that. Word is that Eddie Berganza plans to be much less of a 'hands-on' editor than Cavalieri or Carlin. I'm not sure what you mean by 'creative limitations,' though.

True, Loeb's writing is heavily artist-dependent, and Tim Sale's art does help to make SFAS and his Batman Halloween specials feel like a Martin Scorsese movie in comic book form, BUT. . . Loeb has worked with Ed McGuinness before (they were together over at Awesome Entertainment), and they meshed pretty well, so I'm hopeful.

On an unrelated side note, if any of you ever run into Loeb at a comics convention (not AT the convention, actually, but after the convention, in the hotel bar or whatnot) siddown and chill with him for a while. I PROMISE you a memorable experience. Especially if Erik Larsen's there, too. And if you happen to be in Chicago this year, I'll probably be there, too. . . I'm the skinny, Jewish-looking kid in the Yankees hat whom Loeb's telling to shut up.
