Does anyone know if this Elseworld series has been published yet? The story line is Kal-el landing in what was the Soviet Union instead of Kansas so he grows up with very different ideas and embracing communism. He becomes the feared leader of the U.S.S.R. If anyone is aware of this, please let it be known. Thanks.

No it hasn't been published yet. I think I heard it was supposed to have come out by now, but has been delayed. Mark Millar says it's the best story he's ever written.

If it has been 'published' in what? At all, or in paperback or something? But, yes, I do recall that exact storyline occurring in an Elseworlds Annual a few years back. I think it had to do with that Waverunner, Waverider thing. You know, the guy running through time. You what? You deliberately chose to ignore that memory? Can't blame you. But, yeah, it's been done, if that's what you're asking. I'm 97% certain of it.

You may be thinking of Superman Annual #3 during Armaggedon 2001. Superman was literally becoming a dictator, removing the world's nuclear weapons (hmm...). But he wasn't from Russia. Red Son is something different. Lex Luthor is the US president in it!

No, I'm not talking about an annual. I'm talking about a new 'Elseworlds' book titled Superman: Red Son that I've been hearing about that it is coming soon.

I was replying to Slylock. His descriptions sound close to Superman Annual

Actually, it's not just a single book but an Elseworlds miniseries. Information about the miniseries has been coming from DC for at least three years, but it keeps getting pushed further and further back. Who knows if it will ever get finished...
As others have mentioned, it's written by Mark Millar (writer of Superman Adventures and co-writer of Action Comics/Adventures of Superman with Stuart Immonen) and he's mentioned that he considers it his best work. The art is by Dave Johnson, who is notoriously slow, and it's presumably his fault that the series has been delayed.
(Shouldn't there come a time when they just can him and get a new artist?)
