From 8/2/99 Zenterainment news letter announced that nick at night as purchaced the rights to the Adventures of Suprtman to be shown starting in April of the year 2000. along with other Clasic Warner brother;s tv shows from the fifties and sixties. Comic Mania describe this series as the animated. But i think they are wrong. The george Reeves version of Superman was called The Adventures of Superman. I believe they are confusing the live action with the animated Superman Adventures. If warner brother's wished to run Superman's animated adventures they have their own cartoon sation in which to do so. Hey I am hoping that some day nick at night starts to show have gun will travel! dave

Nick at Nite has already run the George Reeves ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, in the early '90s. I did see something months ago back that said USA Network was picking up AoS, but nothing since.

I don't know of any other Superman series that was called ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, although the offshore title for LOIS & CLARK came close.

The animated series in the 60's was titled 'The New Adventures of Superman,' but I doubt they would show that on Nick At Nite.

It's definitely the Reeves series, back on the cablewaves in April 2000.

I'll have some more thoughts on this over in rec.arts.sf.superman.

I guess you know that the FX cable outlet showed both series for a while when it started up in June 1994. FX has since dumped all its old programming and put up a bunch of crap that no one watches, except for a show in which amateur boxers pummel each other into unconsciousness for money.

Hot diggity, the suicide's pact's canceled.

Seriously though, when it was on Nick last time, did they tend to show the episodes in order or not?

Thank you in advance.

On the first go-round, they were shown in order except for the omission of those episodes seen in the opening week marathon. (Though there was an alternate first round of sorts, in which weekend episodes were shown in their own order starting from the beginning.)

Second time through and beyond, they were pretty well in order.

Vartox answered this elsewhere, but I had something to add.

The syndie package itself is out of order. The episode 'Blackmail,' e.g., isn't in the mix until close to the end, even though it's #75. I don't remember if Nick fixed this, but WOR didn't when it ran the package from 1987 to about 1992.

Worse, the episode 'The Birthday Letter' (#7) wasn't in the package for about twenty years. Apparently it was originally withdrawn because it involves the kidnapping of a crippled child (even though she isn't harmed, is rescued by Superman, and the ending is possibly the most lyrical of any in the entire series). Anyway, when the heat died down, someone forgot to put it back into the package. I didn't see it again until Nick showed it.

The episode 'The Stolen Costume' (#13) _is_ lost
