Unless KINGDOM COME counts as continuity. He's there on Clark's farm, along with the other super-pets. (And, unlike a horse, or a dog, or even a cat, it's hard to come up with any *other* explanation of what a monkey is doing on a farm...)

Perhaps Clark, alone and friendless, became fond of candy, and the monkey was put in charge of getting him Rhesus Pieces.
